Random Burg Thoughts

There was a park on Washington Street near the Sign
Place. It had benches and trees and was small. I don't
recall the name of it and never remember seeing anyone
use it.
Barb P mentioned that Liberty Street was once a 2 way
street all the way, I remember that and it was a bit
of a squeeze. I think Turpin Street in South Trenton was
also 2 ways at one time. My Grandparents lived there:)
My Grandpa would watch wrestling and give us pennys from
a jar. He claimed he wrestled bears and swam across the
Delaware (I don't recall if he did these together in
the story).
There were some turns I did'nt make in the Burg.
I never made a left turn where Hewitt Street meets Liberty
Street. I would always do a loop around Howell Street
Dayton Street and Brown Street back to Liberty Street
to go left there. Part of Macks keep the car in one
piece effort.
Does anyone remember our South Ward Councilman names
from the past? I remember Ungrady and I think Cipriano.

Mack, I lived on Hewitt 1/2 block from Liberty...made many left hand turns into there. My problem was Roebling Ave, nobody ever stopped for the stop streets and Chambers and Roebling, nobody ever stopped for the red light.

Hi Barb:)
I saw 3 0r 4 bad accidents at that
corner when young and they left an
impression on me.
I also recall when folks reached
Liberty Street coming down South
Broad Street heading into the Burg
they were supposed to merge from
2 lanes into 1. This caused accidents for folks who didnt know
how to merge.

Barb and Mack: Want to see true road idiots come to Florida. The tourists don't know where they are going. The rednecks drive those hugh pick-ups with tires that belong on a 747 and ride your a-- and think it's funny. Driving down here is real fun.

Mack, where I lived on Broad, the idiots didn't want to merge from 2 lanes down to 1, so there was an accident every day on my side... and the heavy State traffic came down Broad and there was an accident on the your side of Broad also. While the cops took the info from the accident victims, we would strip parts off their car. Sounds terrible now..was lucrative then. All I know now is, if I'm behind a Buick or somebody with Florida tags, I'm in for a long ride. Joe Z, I see where your commin' from.

Barb: You mentioned something about Liberty St. and Roe said something to me about it. Is Liberty St. a one way now?

Here's my suggestion when driving, avoid a car with 6 old ladies, anyone wearing an ear muff hat and anyone whose head you can't see. Pull over and wait awhile.

Joe Z..Roe is right, Liberty has been 1 way for a while now. 2 ways from Broad and I believe it becomes 1 way from Deklyn to Lalor. I'm gonna take your advice when driving. I'm gonna add: young punk kid driving in the fast lane doing 35 in a 50-talking on a phone, anyone under the age of 18 or over 80 TEXTING, farmers in pick up trucks, men in long white vans with turbans and school bus drivers outside the city limits.

Barb: I say amen to that. May the prayers of the Order of the Bucket Nuns be with them as they drive.

...and may St Fidel watch over them, and you, forever and ever, Amen
