There was also the Hungarian Civic Association, met in the Hungarian Reform Church, The Hungarian Home on Genesee St and the Trenton Chapter of the Navy League (not the Burg, but Bunting Avenue).
Don't forget the German Arbeiter's Hall, it was near the Triftway on Liberty Street. Rosemary and I when dating use to go there with another couple and his mother who knew the members. For $10 a ticket on a Saturday night, open cocktail hour, family dinner and dancing all night long. Could not beat the price. Many a hangover the next day.
I am told there was a club in the alley behind the Clint-Mott Tavern.
The firt floor was Dileo Bakery and the second floor was the Armstrong Mens Club.
Joe Z...went to many wedding receptions at Arbeiter Hall. I had forgotten. Also, can anybody remember what Baldasari Regency used to be called (Division and Morris)? My husband and I have a brain fart, can't remember.
Barb: I draw a blank on that one. Where was DeGeorge's El Dorado at.
Joe Z...it was on the corner of Roebling and Franklin. That's where Mr. Russo was, before Mikey was shot and killed. Heard he may have owned it or been a partner.
Before the Baldasari Regency I think the place was called the Aurora Club. Pardon the spelling.
Gee, I had my reception, to first husband in 1968, at DeGeorges..forgot all about that..lol..Anybody remember Romeo and Juliets? That's where Joe and I got married and had the reception.
Thank you Anonymous..right on the money, it was Aurora Hall. Rosemary...went to many wedding receptions at Romeo's also. Did an appraisal on the building about 5 years ago...really run-down, but you could still see how nice it used to be...brought back some nice memories. An old boyfriend used to work there, he was part of the family (Mario Giancarli).
Mary Jablonski, wife of Carl..they owned the candy store on Beatty and Home...was a waitress at Romeo & Juliets during the early '60's.
Sax: Did Carl die, whatever became of their son Carl Jr.
Carl Sr died in the 60's I went to his viewing at Winowicz with my mom... don't know what happened to Jr...I'll ask my sister.
about degeorge's nicky russo didnt own it,but was playing cards in there, the night michael was shot, until recently the bullets holes were still in the wall on the side, nicky russo owned browns novelty ,was on chambers st
Bill M...Browns Novelty was around the corner from my house on the corner of Clinton and Division. Always lots of fine cars parked out front. I saw Mikey a few days before he died, he offered me bar stools from Botal for the new house. We came back and took 4 stools and left about 1/2 hour before he was shot.
