1444 Hamilton Avenue, Hamilton
Near Villa Park.
This was once Banks Deli:)
This building is groovy.
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hi Mike:
This building is at the end of my street (Atlantic Avenue, Corner of Hamilton)> It was originally a red brick deli owned Ted Banks back in the late 40's and early 50's. Ed Bray took over the deli when Ted retired, operating until the mid 60's. It is now operated by immigrants I believe from the middle east.

Hi Tom:)
Love the picture of Beatty Street
in the late 30s on your site:)
Atlantic Avenue with all of
those detached homes feels more
suburban than Connecticut and Lynwood which have more townhouses:)
Thanks for the history of this
Deli:)
I might have gone in here in the
70s on a summer day driving my bike
in search of Kerns Soda:)
Hi Tom Glover, The Bray's son was actually in a TV show in the 70's...name of the show escapes me...it was an action adventure with Joe Penny. I used to lifeguard at Woodlawn Pool and would stop in here to get soda on my way walking home.
Barb: Was that show Jake and the Fat Man?
No, Joe Z...I looked it up, it's call "Riptide", Joe Penny, Perry King and Thom Bray...1984.
