1006 Hamilton Avenue, Villa Park.
I can't find records but recall this was Anthony's
Restaurant back in my Burg day:)

This was Anthony's and then became The Blue Cactus, upscale Mexican Restaurant, 'til they were busted for drugs and closed down.

We had our St. Anthony Holy Name Society meetings here back when before they tangled with the law.

Hi Tom...it was a shame, we all enjoyed the place. Especially when the wait at DeLorenzo's was almost an hour and it was cold outside.

Hi Tom & Barb:)
I was only here a few times but
the food was good and so was the
service:)

BARB: Spoken like a true TOMATO PIE fan! I long ago gave up waiting in line during the cold weather. I always ordered for pickup. Rickie Sr. was one of the many fans of my columns. I'm so advanced in age that I remember DeLorenzo's when tht walls were lined with photos of Sinatra, Rizzuto, Como, and many others. I have been a card carrying (DeLorenzo and Joey's) Tomato Pie eater most of my 75 years. I hate pizza; too much cheese, not enough tomato, crust too thick.

I think it was called the White Cactus when it ran into problems with law.

...and that's why you will live to be 100, only TOMATO PIE. Cent'anni Tom Pass... you may be right, I have Agave on the brain.

Barb...Agave is my drink so don't go by either.

Anthony was my friend, a little guy and he loved to cook, money was not his motivation. At lunch in Trenton when all the state office workers ran to the berg, he would have his front door closed. Folks then would go to the side door and he would let you in. Had many great lunches there with many of the politicians of that day. The Mayor and those from the same.

As many of my friends would visit Trenton, I took then to Anthony's and they loved, there was no ordering. Anthony just brought the food out. I have friends from all over the county rave about his food. He had a girl friend that loved to bake and to could never leave without trying her baking.

Last time I saw his was at the post office at the independence Mall, he had just had a heart attack. Yes, he was something else.
