Ernie was a friend of our Nagy family. He had a cigar stand in the old Post Office and was a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church on Beatty St and Home Ave..across from our house on Beatty St. He was buried from that church and I remember my mom and me standing on our porch and watching his wife Edie Adams go into church. Kovacs was a great comedian..I loved his TV shows. Remember any of his characters he portrayed??
Wow:)

Tom,
Didn't Eddie Hatrack own a bar in Trenton?
SC
My Dad Ed MacNicoll seems to
remember the Hatracks had something
on Spruce Street.
My Dad also said Trenton kids used to decorate the windows downtown at
halloween.
My Dad is good on Trenton stories:)
The Hatrack's had a corner bar in South Trenton. My dad knew him through Ernie and the Hungarian community. I can remember going with my dad and sitting at the bar drinking shirley temple's and eating hard-boiled eggs right out the the jar on the bar!
Saxman is right regarding that bar. Eddie Hatrack Jr. is still in Trenton.
Does Jr. still own the Bar. He was one of my Dad's customers when my Dad was a salesman for Hub City Beer.
B
Saxman knows his bars!!
Last I remember, Jr. was tuning pianos for a living.
My dad used to babysit Ernie and had pictures of him as a baby. When dad passed at 95, 7 years ago I couldn't find any of the old pictures. We were also standing outside the church the day he was burried. My father-in-law belonged to the Hungarian Reform Church and lived next to my mom on Home Ave when they were kids. I didn't know that years later I would marry his son. My father-in-law owned the El Rancho Bar on Beatty and Lalor. Hungarian marrying a Hungarian, who would have guessed, and what was I thinking.
Boldog {j Évet Barbár......
Where at on Home Ave?
What's your mom's maiden name...and your dad's?
I played at the El Rancho many times when they tried live music.
My father-in-law was Bill Pety, his partner in the El Rancho was was Archie Blyer My husband is Ray Pety (Sherm), they lived above the bar, Corner Beatty and Lalor. My mom was Helen Freund, worked at Arnold Constables, Vorhees and at 60 went back and got her GED, so she could work for the County, she retired from Mercer County Welfare. My dad was John Freund, he owned Trenton Technical Institute 'til he sold it and retired at 87.
Oops... you asked mom's maiden name, it was Yeager, Grandmom was a Sabo, dads mom was a Toth. My aunt Muncie owned Kropac's Bakery. Do you remember Mrs. Kovach's capusta. She cooked for all the dinners and stuffed cabbage sales the Hungarian Reform Church.
I worked at the Welfare Board
many moons ago..
