Immaculate Conception Catholic Church

I was one of the many folks in Chambersburg who went to Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church. A beautiful building that began in 1874 according to the Church website.
I would often go to 6 PM Mass on Sunday and would get to see the end of Football Games
when I got home. I am an Oakland Raiders fan and they would often be late in the
4th quarter and would actually win games back then.
I remember those words at confession "Bless me Father for I have sinned, its been ____
since my last confession." A fine fine place.

Used to sing in the choir, 7 AM mass, almost every morning. Thought it was a long, cold walk, until I wound up at St Anthony's HS for 2 years and had to walk from Broad and Anderson to Leonard and Kuser. City kids didn't have school buses. Back then the Liberty St bus used to turn onto Newkirk and then Cedar Lane before it became the Hamilton Ave bus. If we were lucky, we caught the bus and took it into town. In town we would go to Kresges, have a cherry coke, buy some records. Then 2 cents for a transfer and catch any bus that went down Broad St. It was hell then, now I'd love to have all that spare time.

If anyone who remembers this splendid church wants to see some photos of its stained glass windows, please give me an email. These windows are truly superior. I believe they were made in Innsbruck, Austria.

Still the most beautiful church, inside and out, I've ever been in.
