501 Morris Avenue, The Burg
501 Morris Avenue, The Burg A new picture taken a few days ago of the Legendary Burg Establishment Rossi's.
Hi Mack: Rossi's is one of a kind in the Burg. Same name, same location and same gang hanging around. Across the street were the clubs, also in the neighboorhood was Wetzel Field and down the street was my old house on Franklin St. Gil and Al Rossi were my friends and we often played together, with Gil going to Trenton Catholic and me playing with the Schroths and Trenton High. This was all in the 30s, when 5 cent beers with free pretzels was the norm. Between Bartolini's and Rossi's, the guys could get loaded on a buck. It was a time when the whole world seemed to be a happy place. Best regards.
Hi Ralph:) Do you remember the names of any of the folks who might be found having drinks ar Rossi's or Bartolini's back in the 1930s and 1940s? Nicknames will be fine if needed:)
Mack, I'll give you some names, but I'm afraid most of them have passed away. Reynolds Funari, the Masterpolo brothers, Mike and Eddie, Bill Nolan, Huck Costner, Matt Hahn, Al Innocenzi, Smokey Butera, Lefty Ott and the whole gang in the clubs like Villa Park and Fulton St.
Does anyone remember a Pete Innoceni. He may have been in the concrete business but I not sure. He took me to my fist ballgame at Yankee Stadium in the mid 50's. I remember he and my Dad were good friends and he was a great guy around kids. He took me to the clubhouse and got me team ball signed by the whole Yankee team. I still have that ball to this day.
